Fred Marx

Fred Marx has been active in service to the community since he and his late wife, Adele, and two sons, David and Daniel, arrived from Hudson County in 1959. He served in Japan in the First Cavalry Division from 1946 to 1948 and graduated from Pace University to qualify as a Certified Public Accountant. He is a member of the N.J. Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs.

Starting with the old Leonia Co-op and the Swimming Pool Committee and progressing to more than thirty years as member, crew chief and Captain of the Leonia Ambulance Corps, he has spent much time involving himself in community matters. In recent years, Fred has served on the Board of Adjustment and the Capital Budget Committee. He is the Treasurer of the Overpeck Preserve.   Fred is also an honorary trustee and past president of Congregation Ahavath Torah in Englewood.

Most interested in the direct welfare and health of the members of this community, Fred has never been active in politics but now feels that the political climate requires improvement.  “With the advent of new technologies, communications between elected officials and their constituents should be simple and convenient. To ignore these opportunities is a disservice to all. Things move quickly these days, and looking back at previous political missteps only beclouds current problems. Let’s move forward together as Democrats and continue to maintain Leonia as the unique place it is and has been. “
