Leah Roland

Leah Roland has voted in every primary, school board and general election since reaching voting age and has been active in political campaigns since the age of 16; canvassing, letter writing and phone calling.

A resident of Leonia since 1968, she was one of a committee of four who mounted an independent school board election in 1969, effectively ending the reign of the Civic Conference unilateral selection process and winning two seats out of three. The following year witnessed the first election of Democrats to Leonia’s Borough Council in modern history.

Seven years ago she was one of the founders of Leonia Citizens for Open Government, to spur new and wider Borough leadership. Subsequently she was active in the election of our current Mayor and Council, which has effectively improved all Government departments and achieved impressive fiscal stability.

Currently Leah serves on the Planning Board and the Mayor’s Advisory Economic Development Committee.
